Groundman- Transmission
The Groundman Transmission position is an entry level position in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical transmission systems.
* *
oWork safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized transmission work.
oStringing overhead wire.
oSetting poles and anchors.
oFrequently works with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others.
oMaintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
oDoes all other related work as required to complete the job.
oAble to perform rigorous physical labor.
oUnderstands proper use of company radio.
oUnderstand basic rigging, hand lines, and lineman knot tying.
oUnderstand the proper use and maintenance of hand tools.
oCapable of receiving and following directions.
oCapable of learning basic knowledge of materials used in line work.
oUnderstands DOT requirements (pre-trip/post trip inspections, etc.)
oUnderstands basic rigging techniques.
oUnderstands proper use and maintenance of hand tools.
oPossess a basic knowledge on safe use of chain saw, bush axe, etc.
oUnderstands personal protective equipment requirements and wears PPE when and how it is needed.
oUnderstands proper use and care of ladders.
oAble to assist in pole framing, setting, and removal.
oUnderstands the basic concepts of grounding procedures.
oUnderstands how to safely set up a work zone.
oAble to assist with structure assemble and disassembly.
oPossesses a basic working knowledge of de-energized line work.
oMust be familiar with induced voltage.
oCapable of performing basic bucket rescue/escape.
oCapable of safely setting a pole.
oUnderstands the basic concepts of equipment set up and grounding.
oCapable of working at heights and/or confined spaces.
oPossesses a basic knowledge of cover up.
oUnderstands minimum approach distance.
oUnderstands flag and tag procedures.
oPossesses knowledge of proper work zone set up.
oPossesses knowledge of pole framing, setting and removal.
oCapable of properly inspecting rubber goods, covers and PPE.
oUnderstands when to wear personnel protective equipment.
oAble to learn to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so.
oCapable of making up and using a hand line.
oUnderstands how and when to use Kellum grips.
oAble to identify different types of materials used in line work.
oAble to travel long distances on short notice, when required.
oAble to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.
oAble to obtain a Commercial Driver's License.
oAble to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
oMust be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
oWilling to work over-time when requested.
oCustomer Oriented
oMust be able to follow Company safety rules and all other Company policies.

The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
